Kapallorek is an independent art space formed in 2014 by two artists, namely Fadly Sabran and Syafiq A’liam. It is based in Seri Iskandar, Perak, Malaysia and it operates as a non-profit organization that serves as a platform for emerging and experimental artists. This is done by having exhibits, performances and dialogue sessions regarding their creative practice with the local and international communities. They also strive to have collaborative exchange with regional and international art practitioners and arts spaces.



Fadly Sabran (b.1983 Perak) is a Media Artist, Researcher and Lecturer at Department of Fine Art, Faculty of Art & Design, Universiti Technology MARA Perak, Malaysia. Graduated Master in Visual Art and Design, University Sains Malaysia, Penang and Bachelor (hons) Degree in Fine Art from Universiti Teknologi MARA, Shah Alam. He is a founder of Kapallorek Art Space (2014-now) and members of group SOsound Experimental Performance Art (2007-2012). Working with media art for a decade and has participated in numerous group exhibitions and Sound Performance both locally and internationally. His work incorporate media art & technology including painting, video, sound, light, kinetic, interactive and installation.

He is currently active as an organizer and curated several experimental exhibition at Kapallorek Art Space. His collective Involved in many collaboration projects across the region. Recently in 2017, his artwork is one of the finalist Young Contemporaries (Bakat Muda Sezaman) at National Art Gallery Kuala Lumpur. He also has participated in ‘Wrapping Unwrapping’ Exhibition in Bandung Indonesia and ‘Art Without Man’, The Korean Society of Media & Arts (KOSMA), Asia Cultural Center, Gwangju South Korea. In 2016, Participate in group exhibition TIES of TENGGARA (Southeast asian artist) at National Art Gallery Kuala Lumpur and Project ‘SAMA-SAMA’ a collaborative South East Asian Artists In Perak. 2014, he has participated show entitled ‘Cheritera’, presented by Galeri Chandan at Start Art Fair, Saatchi Gallery, London. 2012, he was joined the Southeast Asia Group Exchange Residency (SAGER) in Manila, Philippines while his other earlier success is at the recipient of the Minor Award for the Penang Art Open Competition, held at Penang Museum and State Gallery in 2013 and was selcted as a finalist for Malaysia Emerging Artist Award (MEAA) in 2011 and 2013.



Syafiq A’liam (b.1984 Perak) formally graduate from UiTM in Diploma and BA Hons Fine Arts. GAS was his breaking point after getting through a lot of experiences since 2002 from Contemporary Art Scene, creative industries and also behind the making of local and international theatre and movie sets.

He was one of the Nokia Art Award’s honorable mentioned in 2006, Australian Scenic Painter Association certified in 2010, Southeast Asia CURATORSLAB Award Gothe- Jakarta 2015, CURATORSLAB Frankfurt, Germany in 2016 and CURATORSLAB in Bangkok 2016. He also appointed as a specialist sculptor and prop maker at Al-Jazeera in Doha in 2016.

Along the way of his multi talents in Arts, he is still remained as a Contemporary Artist as his core and Leading the 1st Scenic Painter Community in Malaysia under Groundzero Studio label in order to give a magnificent artistic touch for a local art department and entertainment industries. He considered as one of the local art department developer in his way and always loved to keep low but stay sharp.
